Privacy policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

This policy explains what Pecunia ("we", "us") collects when you use pecuniajobs.com, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal data, and we only collect what we need to run Pecunia for you.

What we collect

Your account. Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your profile picture; we never receive your Google password and never post anything for you. If you sign up with an email and password, we keep only a scrambled (hashed) version of the password, never the password itself.

About you. Your country, which we ask for when you sign up, and anything else you choose to tell us there: your city, your situation, the job you want, your field, your years of experience and whether you want remote or in-person work. You can change these at any time on your Profile page or in Settings.

What you put into Pecunia. The CVs, job descriptions and job links you add, the reports and documents Pecunia creates for you (CV analyses, rebuilt CVs, cover letters, interview preps, LinkedIn makeovers), your application tracker, your AI assistant conversations, your job alerts and your CV designs.

How you use Pecunia. How many times you've used each AI tool this month (to apply the free plan's limits), your plan and its dates, your free trial, your invite code and the friends who joined with it, and whether you joined our early-access list.

Payments. Payments are made on the secure pages of our payment providers, Pesapal and Flutterwave. We never see or store your full card number, PIN or mobile money details. We keep a record of what you bought, the amount, currency and date, and the provider's reference. For the free trial and the monthly card subscription that follows it, we also keep a payment token from Flutterwave (it can only be used to charge Pecunia), your card type, its last 4 digits and its expiry date, so we can renew your plan and show you which card it uses.

Expert CV reviews. If you send your CV for a review (Premium), a person on the Pecunia team reads it, and we keep it with their written feedback so you can read it later.

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you visit, and keeps them in short-lived logs for security. We use the country your connection comes from to show prices in your currency before you sign in; we don't store it.

How we use it

To run Pecunia for you: create your reports and documents, show jobs and prices for your country, save your work so it's the same on every device, apply plan limits, take payments and renew subscriptions you started, and keep your account secure. We email you about your account (password resets, trial reminders, problems with a payment, a finished CV review) and, only if you saved a job alert, new jobs that match it, at most once a day. Every job alert email has a link to stop it.

Artificial intelligence

To create your reports and documents, the text you give a tool (for example your CV and a job description) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what we send through its API is not used to train its models. We don't use your CV or documents to train any AI either. AI can make mistakes, so always read what Pecunia writes before you use it.

Who helps us run Pecunia

We share personal data only with the service providers we need, and only for the purposes above:

  • Anthropic: the AI that writes reports and documents
  • Vercel: hosting the website
  • Upstash: our database (your account, plan, usage and synced data)
  • Brevo: sending emails
  • Pesapal and Flutterwave: taking payments
  • Google: signing in with Google, and ads for visitors who aren't signed in (see below)

Some of these companies store data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our users or Pecunia from fraud or abuse.

The Job finder shows jobs from public job boards and employers' career pages. When you open a job and apply, you apply on the employer's or job board's own website, under their privacy policy.

Cookies and storage in your browser

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser's storage keeps a copy of your work and your settings (such as your theme), so pages load quickly and work offline. We don't use any tracking or analytics cookies of our own.

Advertising

Visitors who aren't signed in may see ads from Google AdSense on our public pages. Ads are never shown on the tools, the sign-in pages or to members. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on those visits. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some other vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and what's in it until you delete your account. Records of payments are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after an account is deleted. Hosting logs are kept for a short time only.

Your choices and rights

  • Download a copy of your data: Settings → Your data
  • Stop saving your data to your account, or delete it from every device: Settings → Your data
  • Correct your details: Profile, or Settings → Country & about you
  • Cancel a subscription: Go Pro → Manage plans, or Settings → Account
  • Delete your account and everything in it: Settings → Account → Delete account
  • Stop job alert emails: the link in any alert email, or delete the alert in the Job finder

Depending on where you live (for example under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, Kenya's Data Protection Act, or the GDPR in the UK and EU), you may also have the right to ask what we hold about you, to object to how we use it, or to complain to your data protection authority. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days.

Security

Pecunia only works over encrypted connections (https), passwords are stored hashed, and repeated wrong passwords lock an account for a while. Only the people who run Pecunia can access our systems, and only when they need to. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else.

Children

Pecunia is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll tell you by email or in the app first.
